Forget the Valentine’s card this year and try this fun pastry instead! These adorable Strawberry Love Notes are made with a flaky pie crust and filled with delicious jam. Your Valentine won’t know what hit ’em!

Ingredients

2 refrigerated pie crusts
Flour, for rolling out dough
1/2 C. strawberry jam
1 egg, for egg wash
1/4 C. granulated sugar, for sprinkling

Directions

1) Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2) On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pie dough. Using a knife or cookie cutters, cut out 6 – 8 large diamonds and small hearts. Roll out and use dough scraps as needed.

 

3) Place a small dollop of jam in the center of each diamond.

 

4) Fold in the bottom, left, and right corners to create an envelope shape. Lightly press down on the dough to seal it in place. Place the heart shape where the three corners meet in the middle.

 

5) Transfer envelopes to the prepared baking sheet. Brush each envelope with an egg wash, then sprinkle with sugar.

 

7) Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Let pastries cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a rack to cool completely.
