Supplies
Pre-cut fat quarter fabric
1/4″ Elastic
Fabric glue
Scissors
Measuring tape or ruler
Safety pin
Pencil
Directions
1) Start by measuring and cutting out a 3″ by 18″ piece of fabric and a 5″ by 12″ piece of fabric.
2) Take the 3″ by 18″ piece of fabric and add glue along the top edge of the printed side.
3) Fold the fabric horizontally, then gently press along the edges to glue them together.
4) Fold the 5″ by 12″ piece of fabric in half twice, once vertically then once horizontally.
5) Draw a shape on the fabric similar to the one pictured below, making sure the folded sides are to the left and on the bottom.
*Side note: Have fun with this step! It’s cool to see how unique each scrunchie turns out just by changing up this shape a little.
6) With the fabric still folded, use your scissors to cut out the shape you just created.
7) Unfold the fabric. You should now have a shape resembling a bow.
8) With the printed side of the fabric facing upward, glue along the rounded edges of the bow, leaving the center completely bare.
9) Fold the fabric in half horizontally and gently press along the edges to glue them together.
9) Allow the glue to dry for at least 30 minutes, then flip both pieces of fabric inside out. If needed, you can use a pencil to help you push the fabric through one end to the other.
10) Cut a 9″ piece of elastic and add a safety pin to one side. Feed the elastic through the 18″ piece of fabric, using the safety pin to help you guide it. Make sure to keep a hold on the opposite end of the elastic so it does not get lost in the fabric.
11) Once the elastic is fed all the way through, take off the safety pin and tie both ends together. Spread the fabric around the elastic evenly to create the shape of your scrunchie.
12) Hide the ends of the elastic inside the fabric. Overlap one end of the fabric on top of the other, then apply glue around the inside edge to close off your scrunchie.
13) Finally, glue the opening closed on the bunny ear piece of fabric, then tie the bunny ears in a knot around the scrunchie.
And voilà! Now you have an adorable accessory that is sure to turn heads!
