Magical Unicorn Themed Party!

Unicorns seem to be a growing trend this summer, and we’re jumping on the bandwagon! Today, we have two DIYs to help you throw the most magical unicorn themed party ever. To see what all the fuss is about, just keep scrolling!

Switch out those regular party hats for a whimsical Unicorn Headband! The metallic horn against the soft flowers creates an elegant effect, sure to enchant any party-goer. These headbands make great party favors and look adorable in pictures!

Supplies
Unicorn horns
Faux flowers
Stiff felt fabric sheet in white
Vine wrapped craft wire
Craft wire cutter
Thin twine
Ribbon
Hot glue gun
Scissors
Printer (to print template for felt piece)

Step 1

Take your vine wrapped craft wire and cut one piece to the size of your headband needed. Then start wrapping more wire around your headband piece to make it stronger. Wrap a loop on each end large enough to slip some ribbon through later.

Take your twine and tie a knot with it on one end of your wire headband and wrap it around to the other side and then secure with another knot on the other end.

Step 2

Print out the top headband piece template. Cut out the paper template with scissors and then trace two pieces onto your felt. Cut out the felt pieces. You need two pieces per headband you make.

Step 3

Take your hot glue gun and apply a liberal amount of glue around the outer edge of one felt piece.

Take your wire headband and place the very top of it down onto the center of the glued felt piece. Take your other felt piece and place directly on top of the other felt piece, sandwiching the headband between the two. Hold the felt securely for about a minute for the glue to set. Add more glue, if needed.

Step 4

Take your unicorn horn and apply hot glue to the underside of the horn. Place it onto the center of the felt piece and hold together for a few minutes while the glue sets.

Step 5

You can now begin to glue your faux flowers onto the felt piece around the horn. You can arrange the flowers and leaves to cover as much of the white felt as possible, so it doesn’t show through.

Step 6

When you are done arranging and gluing the flowers and leaves to the top of your headband, you can add your ribbon to the bottom. We cut a 20″ long piece of sheer 2″ wide ribbon, looped it through both loops on each end of the headband and then tied into a bow.

Your Unicorn headband is ready to be worn! Continue on to see how you can make the perfect Unicorn treat to compliment your Unicorn themed party!

Take your party one step further with these Sweet and Salty Unicorn Horns! This brightly-colored treat is the perfect combination of delicious pretzel, yummy caramel, and sweet chocolate. Your guests won’t be able to resist coming back for more!

Ingredients
Pretzel Rods
Kraft caramel squares (4 per pretzel)
White chocolate candy melts in:
White
Peach
Light pink
Light green

Wilton white pearl dust
Wilton candy melting pot (not required, but makes melting chocolates easier)
Wilton duo silicone melting pot insert (allows you to melt two colors at once)

Step 1

Pour candy melts into your Wilton melting pot with divider or into separate medium size microwave safe bowls. Turn your pot on to begin warming or heat each color for 1 minute in the microwave at 60%, stir and continue heating for 30-second increments until your melts have a creamy consistency. Do not overheat! The melts will get hard and clumpy when overheated. Do this procedure for each color.

Step 2

Take wrapping off of 4 caramel squares and place them in a microwave safe bowl. Heat on high for 10 seconds. Your caramel will be soft. Knead the squares together into a ball with your hands and then roll it into a long 12-inch piece.

Starting at the top of your pretzel rod, wind the caramel around and give small spaces in between each wrap.

You will wrap about 3/5 of your pretzel rod with the caramel and it should look similar to this:

Continue to wrap the caramel on all of your pretzel rods that you are planning to make before you move onto the candy melts. We placed our completed rods into a jar of rice to keep the caramel nice and round.

Step 3

Now we’re ready to add the chocolate. Dip or spoon the white melts over the caramel, filling all the spaces between the caramel and the pretzel. Tap off some of the excess but not too much. You want to leave a thick layer.

Start drizzling the colors on the white, one by one, turning the pretzel and lightly tapping at the same time. This will create a marbling effect.

If you see some areas that you think need more color, go ahead and add more and keep turning the rod and tapping it.

When done drizzling all colors, you can place your rods on a plate or put them upright in a jar filled with rice and place them in the freezer for 10 minutes.

Step 4

After 10 minutes, you can remove your pretzel rods from the freezer. Take your Wilton white pearl dust and a small paintbrush and dust the hardened chocolate lightly to create a sparkly effect.

Your Sweet & Salty Unicorn Horns are ready to enjoy!

We hope you have a super magical unicorn themed party!!
