That’s right! Just a little dark chocolate and a few of your favorite superfoods and wa-lah! You have a colorfully cute and perfectly healthy chocolate treat!
We don’t think there’s anyone out there who would turn down a healthy and satisfying chocolatey treat! We may be biased, but If we had to live on this decadent dessert for the rest of our lives, you would not hear an objection from us! It’s super addictive! Not only is the recipe out of this world, but these babies are loaded with cute and colorful superfoods to help give you that extra burst of energy us mommies so desperately need!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- 3 XL Dark chocolate bar, we used Hershey’s 60% dark chocolate! (Will make about 24 bites.)
- Your favorite dried fruits. For this recipe, we used dried blueberries, cherries, and cranberries, and freeze-dried strawberries!
- Assorted chopped nuts. We went with pistachios, pecans, pumpkin seeds, and walnuts!
- Optional: dried coconut shavings, sea salt.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Lay out waxed paper.
- Chop the chocolate into small pieces and place in microwave safe glass.
- Microwave chocolate for 30 seconds, and then stir. Repeat process until chocolate has no lumps and is completely melted.
- Use a spoon or pastry pen to create little rounds of the chocolate onto the wax paper. You can make the chocolate circles as small or big as you like! Ours were about 2 inches wide.
- While chocolate is still hot, decorate each circle with your favorite healthy add-ons!
- Optional: add a dash of sea salt and coconut to complete the treat!
- Let the chocolate set at room temperature, or put the bites in the freezer to speed things up!
The best thing about these tiny treats is that there are NO rules! Go crazy and get creative with your toppings (or not crazy at all)! Honestly, sky’s the limit! Regardless, whatever you do, just make sure to enjoy yourself!
Melting chocolate can be done in a variety of ways, but no matter how you choose to melt it, remember never to let a drop of water touch the chocolate. Water can cause the chocolate to seize and become an unusable mass.
Tip: Use a pastry pen to create perfect circles.
Here’s your time to shine! Start decorating your little heart out!
And finally, the sea salt! You can skip this if you want, but in our opinion, the sea salt completes the treat. The salt is technically what pulls the whole chocolate bite together, making these little bites so flavor-forward and bringing out that sweetness of the toppings.
If you’re running short on time, place the chocolates in the freezer to cut the setting process in half!
…Are you feeling hungry yet?
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Snacking Mommies!
