The succulent trend is sweeping the nation and with spring just around the corner, we decided to hop on the band wagon. Succulents require very little maintenance and are the perfect plant for people who can’t seem to keep a plant alive (…guilty). These modern DIY succulent planters take minutes to throw together and make for some chic decor for inside the home. Similar designs you find in stores can cost upwards to $75 per planter but you can make your own for less than $25 or all three for less than $75!
WHAT YOU NEED
2. Cactus & Succulent Soil Mix
4. Geometric Metal & Glass Terrariums
You can likely find everything at your local nursery and the geometric terrariums can be found at your local craft store! You can also click the links above to purchase everything online.
Step 1 – Fill terrariums with heaping 1/4 cup of soil
Step 2 – Add succulents
add anywhere between 1 to 3 succulents in each terrarium.
Step 3 – Cover soil fully with the mini rocks
The rocks give a “finished” look and help move water through the soil to prevent the roots of the succulents from rotting.
Watering Tip
The best practice for watering succulents is to completely soak the soil when you water. This tells the succulents to drink up because a drought is coming. They’ll absorb as much water as they can. Then the soil will take a couple days to dry out. Don’t water again until the soil is completely dry. (www.succulentsandsunshine.com)
The planters make for great decor on a mantel or shelf, but would look equally great as a table centerpiece.
